Duties:
Coordinates and performs a variety of cashiering functions
Receives and processes payment transactions
Enters, updates, and researches payment information
Provides customer service to utility customers and responds to payment inquiries from customers
Balances, maintains, and prepares assigned cash drawer for next business day
Collects, processes, and posts customer payments received at the front counter including cash, checks, and money orders
Opens, processes, posts, and balances customer payments received by mail and/or night drop; stamps the back of all checks received
Participates in processing credit bureau payments, loan payments, and/or interdepartmental billing
Updates, maintains, and researches payment records
Monitors data for accuracy and completeness
Monitors daily bank draft list, and files and maintains bank draft account information
Processes and/or files returned checks, and sends returned check notification letter to customers
Performs opening duties for the drive-through area as assigned
Performs other related duties as assigned
Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
Minimum Standards & Essential Job Functions:
High School Diploma or equivalent; AND one year cash handling experience; OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
A typing and data entry ten key calculator test must be passed before an application will be accepted.
Required knowledge of Utility Billing operations, policies, and procedures; cash handling principles and practices; basic bookkeeping principles; customer service standards and protocol; and departmental records, reports, and documentation.
Required skills in coordinating and conducting a variety of cashiering duties; processing and posting customer and/or other types of payments; performing accurate data entry and updating/maintaining payment records; reconciling and maintaining assigned cash drawer; and establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with other staff and utility customers.
Work is performed in a standard office environment. Subject to sitting, standing for extended periods of time, walking, bending, reaching, and lifting of objects up to 20 pounds.
A valid driver’s license with a good driving record is required.
