A Good Place To START

Building a Webpage, or a cluster of pages that should work together; may seem daunting. We can get stuck on minutia like:

  • Deciding between what widgets to use
  • or even what template layout is right for your landing page/interior page

KEEP TRYING! and use the Pages under "Brian's Example Pages" as a means of how to meld together best practices. When you have questions- email me: brian.pope@granicus.com

All of the subpages to this section are built to hold the Tips and Tricks of each widget.

This page was built with a 1 Column Page Template Layout with several "text area" and "image widgets" if you are a Super User of your CMS and want to try out what widgets you like, or have your Basic Users try their hand at these widgets- Build a Page Template with these widgets on it- and let your Basic Users build a new page and play with the widgets.

Your Content Columns widget is a great way to add text to a page. This is edited just like a Content Area Widget. You can have Column Titles  over each column, or choose to leave it blank. Some clients have the ability to choose a background color for each column.

Below is the "Interior Image Buttons" widget your Project Manager may have loaded a library/folder of Icons into your Image Library. You can also build your own Icons, and load them into the Image Library component. I love this widget because it is very simple- use an image of any size, give the button a Title and connect it to a URL-(sometimes I even connect these buttons to a document in the doc central by using the documents URL)

Below is the "Image Button Widget"- The best size/ shape images for this widget are save to the Image Library at 300 px wide by 210 px tall. If you are building your own icons and images this widget can be a lot of fun, you will notice I use .png (icons) images here as well with a negative space as part of the image.
